Brazil vs Norway — I Think Norway Wins This 2-1, and Here's Why

I'm going to say something that'll upset a lot of people: Norway wins this. 2-1. And I don't think it'll be particularly close by the end.

Here's what the stats are showing right now — Norway has 64% possession to Brazil's 36%. Six shots for Brazil, four for Norway, both sides with 2 on target and 2 saves each. Scoreline: 0-0. Second half just kicked off.

But possession like that doesn't happen by accident. Norway isn't just surviving — they're controlling this game. And Brazil, for all their individual brilliance, look like a side that's one bad defensive moment away from unraveling.

The Haaland Problem Nobody's Solving

Erling Haaland hasn't scored yet. But watching him move — the runs, the positioning, the sheer physical menace — I think he's about to. Norway made two subs at half time, both of them wide, both of them direct. Solbakken is telling his team: get the ball wide and find Haaland in the box. When that service comes, and it will, Brazil's centre-backs are in trouble.

That's my first goal. Norway, second half, Haaland.

Brazil Will Hit Back — Then Fade

Vinicius Junior is the most dangerous player on this pitch, and Brazil will equalise. One counter, one moment of individual magic, and it's level. That's just what this Brazil side does — they don't need the ball to hurt you.

But that's also their ceiling in this game. They're sitting too deep, relying too heavily on individual flashes rather than building anything sustained. Norway's midfield — Odegaard, Berge, Berg — is too disciplined to keep giving them those moments all game.

Brazil equalise. Then Norway find a way through again. 2-1 Norway, final whistle.

The Feeling That's Hard to Ignore

There's something about this Norway side that reminds me of the teams Gladwell would write about — the underdog that's actually not an underdog at all, just underestimated. Quiet, systematic, doing all the unglamorous things right, waiting for their moment.

Brazil have the history, the names, the mythology. Norway have Haaland and a plan.

I'll take the plan.

My prediction: Norway 2-1 Brazil.

Edit:

OH MY GOD

I can’t believe I predicted the exact score and outcome! 🤯

I agree I’m biased towards Haaland (and 🐐Ronaldo ofc) and I was expecting him to score 2 goals but this was just unbelievable!

First Cape Verde surprised the world and now Norway!!

this has to be one of the most interesting and unpredictable World Cup ever!
